A group of 12 Hofstra University students were inducted into the Mu Kappa Chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU), the international honor society for geography students.

A group of 13 Hofstra University students were inducted into the Mu Kappa Chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU), the international honor society for geography students.

Four students were named recipients of the Phi Beta Kappa Book (PBK) Award, sponsored by the Provost's office and the Hofstra University Bookstore. Hofstra's Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, one of less than 300 in the nation, honors a small number of promising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have attained a 4.0 GPA while taking a broad and rigorous coursework in the liberal arts and sciences.

A group of 19 Hofstra University students were inducted into the Mu Kappa Chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU), the international honor society for geography students.

For the first time in more than a year, Hofstra biology majors gathered in person - albeit socially distant - to celebrate the induction of 24 students into Alpha Lamba, the university's chapter of Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta), the Biology Honor Society. The spring ceremony also included a virtual component for those students who have been studying remotely this academic year.

Naomi Gunkel, a senior at Hofstra University from Doylestown, PA, has been inducted into the Japanese National Honor Society (JNHS), which "recognizes and encourages achievement and excellence in the study of the Japanese language."

In May 2014 Hofstra University's Sociology Department honored high achieving students at its annual end of year awards ceremony.

Nine Hofstra students from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences were honored on October 30, 2013, at the Fall 2013 Phi Beta Kappa Book (PBK) Awards. The students - three sophomores, three juniors and three seniors - were selected by the Hofstra faculty PBK officers for maintaining a GPA of 3.9-4.0 and for high achievement in their major in the humanities, natural sciences or social sciences.

On April 30, 2014, 59 Hofstra University students were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Phi Beta Kappa is considered an emblem of high achievement and strong potential. The society celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences.
