Sophomore Midfielder Mario Ruiz, from Central Islip, New York, is a member of the 2014 Hofstra Men's Soccer team.

Hofstra returns five of its top-10 scorers, including leading goal-scorer Maid Memic, from a 2013 squad that went 8-7-3 and qualified for the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. But eight freshmen highlight a class of 10 newcomers that will try and help the Pride qualify for its first appearance in the national tournament since 2006.

Head Coach Richard Nuttall is entering his 26th season after guiding Hofstra to a winning record in four of the last five campaigns. Nuttall and his staff have scoured the globe for talent with seven countries represented. The Hofstra Men's Soccer team will start the 2014 season on Aug. 29 against Northern Illinois.
