Hofstra's Claudia Marin Samper Named CAA Field Hockey Player of the Week

Hofstra University junior Claudia Marin-Samper, from Terrassa, Spain, has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey Player of the Week for the period ending October 4.

Marin Samper tallied four goals and four assists in the Pride's two victories last week that boosted their win streak to eight games and their season record to 10-3.

The 2014 All-CAA first team selection recorded a career-high eight points while tying her personal best with three goals and adding two assists in Hofstra's 9-1 victory over the Pioneers of Sacred Heart at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium last Friday.

Two days later, she added a goal and two assists in the Pride's 4-3 victory at Columbia. Marin Samper, who also earned the CAA Player of the Week award on September 1, is now on a seven-game point streak during which time she has posted 10 goals and six assists.

On the season, Marin Samper has recorded 15 goals and 10 assists for 40 points, all career personal-bests.

Marin Samper's award marks the third consecutive week that a Hofstra player has received the CAA Field Hockey Player of the Week award. Junior Stella Schoen received the award on September 22 and sophomore Simca Schoen earned the award on September 29.
