Hofstra Freshman Dimitra Vrosgou Wins A Cappella Honor

Music Education major Dimitra Vrosgou, '21, of Plainview, NY, won an award for Outstanding Vocal Percussion at the 2018 International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinal at Monmouth University.

"It feels so empowering to be a female vocal percussionist who is part of an all-female group," said Vrosgou. "And there's no better feeling than being on stage with my two families and sharing a piece of ourselves."

Vrosgou is a member of two Hofstra a capella groups: Makin' Treble, Hofstra's all-female a cappella group, and Sigma'Cappella, which placed third overall in the competition.
