Christina Cinnamo of Franklin Square Featured at Oyster Bay Music Festival

Christina Cinnamo of Franklin Square, NY, Class of 2017, is part of a talented contingent of nine Hofstra University students and two faculty members from the Music Department participating in the third season of the Oyster Bay Music Festival (OBMF), an intensive musical immersion for aspiring performers that takes place amid a busy schedule of free, public performances. The Festival, planned for June 28-July 6, features the talents of 35 high-level, classically trained musicians, ranging in age from 11-24, hailing from communities throughout Long Island and greater New York. The goal is to build connections between aspiring performers, new audiences, and unusual venues.

Students have the opportunity to train with expert faculty, rehearsing solo and chamber music, and take seminars on audition preparation, performance psychology, body awareness, and performance presentation. Students spend part of each day performing for live audiences. The festival has scheduled 20 public events during the week at a variety of venues, as well as six programs at senior centers and several "pop-up" concerts in the village.

Sarah Adams Hoover, Hofstra adjunct assistant professor of music, is executive director of the Festival, and Tammy Hensrud, adjunct associate professor of music, is a master class presenter.

While Hofstra students will be participating in many concert events throughout the Festival (particularly in the evenings), all of them are scheduled to appear in the following concerts:

Tuesday, July 1, 6-9 p.m.: "Vintage Cars, Vintage Music," as part of Oyster Bay's famed Cruise Night, at 20th Century Cycles, 101 Aubrey Avenue.

Thursday, July 3, 7:30 p.m.: "I Hear America Singing," an early musical celebration of Independence Day at Christ Church, 61 East Main Street.

Saturday, July 5, 6-7:30 p.m.: "Songs of the Sea," classical music inspired by the sea nestled beside the beautiful Ida May Project at The Waterfront Center, 1 West End Avenue.
