Allan Denis Naymark of Brooklyn Receives Honors at Hofstra University Student Art Show

Allan Denis Naymark, 22, of Brooklyn, NY, was one of several students to be honored for outstanding work on display at Hofstra University's Spring Fine Arts Show. The Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History presented this annual exhibit from April 30-May 12, featuring hundreds of pieces of the finest artwork created by students in painting, drawing, 3D, photography, design and new media.
There was an opening reception for the art show on April 30. Awards were given to the following students for outstanding art in a variety of categories:
Photography Award
Maya Collins, 23, of Columbia, MD - a graduating senior with a fine arts major, concentration in photography

New Media Design Award
Bethany Dill, 20, of East Setauket, NY - a junior who has three majors - in fine arts, marketing and art history. She also has a minor in German studies.

Ceramics Award
Allan Denis Naymark, 22, of Brooklyn, NY, who is majoring in fine arts, with a concentration in ceramics.

Awards in Graphic Design, Painting, Drawing and the Hofstra University Purchase Award
Daniel Jones, 21, of Hampton, NJ - a fine arts major with a concentration in painting
The Hofstra University Purchase Award is a $1,000 award, made possible by the generosity of anonymous donors, that allows the Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History to acquire a work exhibited in the student show. Now in its third year, the eventual goal of the award program is to invite other departments on campus to choose a work to display in their area.

Awards in Sculpture and 3-D Design and the Outside Juror Award
Matthew Aponte, 21, Brooklyn (Bed Stuy) - a junior with fine arts major, concentration in industrial design
The Outside Juror Award was judged this year by Matthew Mahler '04, who holds a B.S. in art education from Hofstra and an MFA in painting from CUNY Queens College. Matthew co-founded of Small Black Door, an experimental art space that was located in Ridgewood, New York.
